Four men enlisted in the 161st Huron Battalion on February 28, 1916.

654516, CRAWFORD, (Pte.) St. Clair, “A” Company, enlisted in Wingham, his hometown prior to WWI. His next of kin was Alexander M. Crawford of Wingham.

654517, GAMBRILL, (L. Cpl.) Alfred Harrison, “C” Company, enlisted in Exeter, Ontario, his hometown before WWI. As a member of the 161st Sergeants’ Mess, Sergeant A.H. Gambrill was photographed with the group when overseas. He was standing in the top row, 10th from the left.

654529, NUNN, (Pte.) Thomas William, “C” Company, enlisted in Exeter, Ontario. His next of kin was Louis H. Nunn of Chadwell Heath, Essex, England.

654520, PENROSE, (Pte.) Thomas William, “A” Company, enlisted in Wingham, Ontario. His next of kin was Reverend James William Penrose of Whitechurch, Ontario. Private Tom Penrose was photographed with the Wingham/Brussels/Wroxeter Boys of the Huron 161st Battalion, that appeared in the April 6th, 1967 edition of the Wingham Advance-Times.
