Private Oliver Cole Enlists

Enlistments – May 14, 1916

One man enlisted with the 161st Huron Battalion on May 14, 1916 and returned home at the end of the war.

654822, COLE, (Pte.) Oliver John, “C” Company enlisted on May 14, 1916.  Oliver Cole was one of six Cole brothers – Frank, Oliver, Willy, Melville, Amos and Len, two of which were able to enlist in 1916. Private Ollie Cole and his brother Private Frank Cole served with the  161st Hurons.

Private Oliver Cole survived WWI.

He also served in WWII by working at the British Commonwealth Airforce training school, south of Clinton on Highway 4,. Oliver John Cole lived at R.R. 3, Clinton, ON after the war.

He died on January 5, 1963 and was buried in the Clinton cemetery. His grave is marked by a British Empire Service League marker.
