S.S. Lapland Leaves Harbour

Battalion News – November 1, 1916

When the S.S. Lapland finally had all the troops loaded, it pulled out of the harbour at 5 pm and sat in the water outside the harbour overnight, waiting for the other boats to load. (Pte. Earl Johns letter-Nov14,1916) Many of the men suffered seasickness during those first days at sea.
