Battalion Diary – April 16, 1917

Location: Witley Camp, North Surrey

The marking of all transport vehicles ordered with Divisional marks, i.e. white stripes painted around body.

Thirty (30) other ranks attended Lewis Gun course of instructional at Divisional Lewis Gun School.

Battalion carried out Judging Distance, Visual Training, Extended Order and Company Drill all day on Training Area at Ockley Common. Dinner in field.

April 13, 1917 was the fifth day of Canadians’ attack on Vimy Ridge.

 

Battalion Diary – April 13, 1917

Location: Witley Camp, North Surrey

Muster Parade at 6:30am. All Correct. Battalion marched to Training Area and carried out collective, flank and rear guard training all day. Dinner in field. The wearing of all steel helmets in all field training ordered by Division.
